The 2040 Initiative

Addressing the challenges that await our changing nation.

U.S. Census Bureau figures from 2012 showed that for the first time minorities made up a majority of babies born in the United States. By the year 2040, demographers predict the U.S will have a “majority minority” with racial and ethnic minorities making up the majority of the U.S. population. At Creighton University, we developed The 2040 Initiative to look at the intersection of this demographic trend with law and politics.

The 2040 Initiative is designed to provide a forum to address the challenging issues facing our country due to demographic changes, including the aging of the baby boomer generation.
