Dan Wintz heads the estate planning and employee benefits practice groups at Koley Jessen, P.C., L.L.O.. His practice focuses on the areas of estate planning and probate, trust and estate administration, business succession planning, employee benefits and executive compensation, and nonprofit and charitable organizations. Mr. Wintz received the 2011 Community Sower Award from the Nebraska Partnership for Philanthropic Planning in recognition of his work with clients in aiding them in fulfilling their charitable planning objectives. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is Nebraska’s first certified Estate Planning Law Specialist (Certified by Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc. – accredited by the American Bar Association).
Mr. Wintz is a 1972 graduate of The University of Chicago with a degree in Tudor-Stuart British Intellectual History and a 1975 graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He is active in numerous tax related Sections of the American and Nebraska State Bar Associations as well as many legal and civic organizations.
After graduation from law school, he was a Second Vice President in the Estate and Trust Division of the Omaha National Bank, a Senior Vice President of SilverStone Group, Inc., a Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche LLP in Denver, and has been a shareholder in the Koley Jessen, P.C., L.L.O. since 2014. He is a frequent presenter and author on tax motivated transaction and planning topics. Mr. Wintz is a contributing author of Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Portfolio 869 T.M., State Income Taxation of Trusts. He has been repeatedly recognized as being among the Best Lawyers in America and as a Super Lawyer.
