This spring and summer has been newsworthy for the School of Law and the Werner Institute. New faces have joined both places – and the School of Law also said goodbye to a familiar face.

Faculty member Irina Fox (shown) has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor. “Professor Fox’s promotion is a well-deserved recognition of her excellent teaching and research, as well as her commitment to service in support of the law school community and the profession,” McGreal said.

Kelly Dineen is joining the School of Law administration as a new assistant professor of law and director of the health law program, effective July 1. She has been employed as an assistant professor of health law and bioethics at St. Louis University for the past four years.

“I am excited for professor Dineen to bring to Creighton and Omaha her outstanding experience in building health law courses and programs and working across professions,” said McGreal.

Michael Kelly (shown), professor, associate dean of international programs, program director of GOAL and the endowed chair, The Senator Allen A. Sekt Endowed Chair of law, received a 2017 University Research Award at the St. Albert’s Day/University Research Day for his body of work on international legal issues. He was presented with the award on March 30.

“I am proud that Creighton University embraced and supported professor Kelly’s important and critical work by recognizing him with the University Research Award,” McGreal said.

Adjunct faculty member Dean Jennings, JD’76, has retired after more than 20 years of service at Creighton University School of Law. The Council Bluffs, Iowa, native taught trial advocacy. Please join us in congratulating Dean Jennings on his retirement.

Administrative & Staff News

BarbaraKaye Miller (shown) started her position as the assistant dean for admissions on May 1. She comes to Creighton from Arizona State University College of Law, where she was the assistant dean of admissions and financial aid. Miller is a native of Omaha. “We are thrilled to welcome Dean Miller back to Omaha, where she will share her extensive and impressive experience in law school admissions with the Creighton Law community,” Dean McGreal said.

Chris Mihalo, BA’08, has joined the Milton R. Abrahams Legal Clinic at Creighton University’s School of Law as a staff attorney. He has been with the legal clinic since January and his previous position was as a lawyer at Domina Law Group, PC, LLO, in Omaha.

Katelyn Cherney, BA ’08, is also a staff attorney at the legal clinic, having joined in July 2016. Her previous position was as a staff attorney at Legal Aid of Nebraska.

The Werner Institute has a new academic coach, Sarah Meisinger, who started in her position in early April. “Sarah will be working closely with all Werner students – including those in the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution/J.D. dual-degree program,” said Jacqueline Font, PhD, professor and director of the Werner Institute.
